Its Time to Rise

The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save.  He will take great delight
in you, He will quiet you with his love.  Zephaniah 3:17

Sometimes, it’s as if that promise goes unspoken; the promise of hope, joy, of
love… of peace. This promise of knowing simlpy that God is in us, and for us.

Sometimes tears come to our tired eyes. Our hearts, our souls, and bodies need rest; or a resting place.  Our situations and present circumstances are thrown at us, stone by stone, crushing hope until it dies.  Sometimes, we can’t lift our heads even to cast our eyes upon the simple ordinary miracles of created life.

We don’t hear the wind through the trees, we don’t see the canvas of the skies, nor smell the fragrance of the earth.  Nothing moves us… but pain.

A very dear friend once handed me a piece of paper.  It was folded and
wrinkled.  It was obviously something he carried with him always.  On that piece
of paper was his favorite hymn: Jesus, I my cross have taken.

In these last few weeks, I have been struggling; how our hearts can hurt, and
yet, it was this hymn that reminded me…

Now, I carry it with me… and I hope you will too.  Let your heart rest and
find peace, knowing that the promise didn’t go unspoken.  The Lord your God is
with you, and He is mighty to save.  Yes, He does take delight in you, and it is
His heart’s desire to quiet you with His love.

Beloved, it is time for you to rise…
